Rumoured to be moving to Newcastle in a deal worth £5m. that is peanuts for one of the top defenders in the Premier League. Minimum £12m if someone like Gary Cahill is going for £10m +.

i lend no credence to it.

"Newcastle  boss Alan Pardew has put Swansea stopper Ashley Williams on his January shopping list.

Pardew has drawn up a list of possible new centre-backs after losing Steven Taylor to injury for the rest of the season, and Wales international Williams is on it after impressing in the top-flight this season.

The 27-year-old helped Swansea record their ninth clean sheet in Monday's 2-0 win at Aston Villa.

Swans manager Brendan Rodgers has slapped an £8million price-tag on Williams to try to scare off suitors, but Newcastle hope they can get him for £5m - and will offer him a big rise on his current £15,000-a-week salary.

Williams has become a firm favourite at Swansea since joining from Stockport in 2008 for £400,000.

If Newcastle are unable to prise him away from the Welsh side, they believe they could get Curtis Davies from cash-strapped Championship side Birmingham"

I read this on Twitter early this morning. Reports from the Sun were suggesting the same.

I know a lot of people do not like to hear about rumors.. However, a few turn out to be true! I just hope this one and the one about Taylor to Arsenal are not!
